I Chopped and then I Chopped again and I might even Chop again!
This is for all those ladies that have had multiple BIG CHOPS.
What made you do it more then once? Damage? Boredom? Something else?
For me, I have this goal of growing ankle length hair, so big chopping again is out of the question!

Hello,
this is so me! LOL! This post will be long so bare with me. My initial BC was August 2009. Now prior to that I would go from one extreme to the next. I would let it grow and then cut it all off. I never had issues with my hair..I was blessed to have an AWESOME stylist, who for years tried to convince me that I didn't need a perm. WHAT?? give me a touchup please. Little did I know that the reason my rollersets would last FOREVER was because SASHA (my hair) was fighting to be seen. Perm my eye...she was showing me through the LYE that she was in control. My rollerset would last weeks if I allowed..she would not be denied!
As I said in a previous post, Sasha's story is best told via pictures. The first is the Many faces of Sasha

The twist...here is where I struggled. I would see so many nice juicy twists and that just wasn't in the cards for Sasha. She would do what she wanted to do. Period!

The twist out..another challenge...but once I found koils by nature butter and it was on and poppin!

Because of Sasha's curly, coily texture the WnG was/is my staple style
a little water and leave in (Koils By Nature is my fav) and that's it!

The puff..finally figure that out.....Loved it!

Lastly the AFRO, here you will see how long she got on me and honestly I dreaded hair day! My arms would get so tired. My shrinkage was out of this world..so folks didn't realize just how much hair I had. But uhm my arms were clear. I was/am proud of how I grew my hair longer that it was prior to the first BC.

So I know I can grow it if that is what I want to do....and honestly..where I am now..I doubt that I will allow it to get that long again. My only regret is most of my color was cut out! That was my favorite color job yet. I plan to get it done again next month!
In summary, it's just hair and like anything else..if you figure out the correct regimine, your hair will grow. I hope this helps someone. If you have questions please feel free to ask. If you take nothing from this post take this:
Water is your friend
Document, Document, Document
and take pictures..it is easy to see your progress if your goal is length.

For me, I have this goal of growing ankle length hair, so big chopping again is out of the question!
I did multiple big chops out of boredom well the first and second time yes, but the third time it was because my mother didn't want me to be around the colored women (well in their way of thinking) with a BAA for my baby shower that was surrounded by my MIL's best friends and sorors. My hair when straightened was a little bellow my shoulders, but I honestly didn't even have the time or strength to press my hair (she said my press made my hair look rough and unkept). I mean I was literally in tears when I did my texlax, which resulted in my hair breaking off. My father tried to stop me because he heard me sobbing so hard, and argued with her that those women can Fred Uses Cooking Knives off. He ran in the bathroom, and it was too late my hair had no more curl and volume just there. So, on Father's Day of 2008 I cut my hair again and I haven't even thought about picking up the clippers again. Well that's a lie I have thought about doing it again, but that's because during the summer it feels like Satan's brought Hades on Earth to have a cook out.

So having natural hair is hot?? I had a TWA this summer so I didn't notice.
It cant be worse then wearing my long Indian Remy hair down my back so I'm sure it will be okie for me.

Bc'd Twice
I first did my BC the forst of Jan. 2011 and it was very cute with the tight curls then in May it hit that akward stage I went to the barber to get all cut even. Now in the 8th month it is again in the akward stage again because it seems like its not growing and it is longer on the top than it os on the sides and back. Also my curls have loosened up and almost looks straight on top and I find it very hard to do anything with it. I try very hard to keep it moisturized with pure shea butter, water, pantene moisturing lotion, and soybean oil. Can someone please give me encouragement with the slow growth because I feel that my hair should be longer than 2 inches by now!
