How Often Do You Cowash?
First topic message reminder :
I was talking to a lovely natural the other day who confided in me that her hair is hard and dry. When I asked her how often she was cowashing she admitted that she doesn't cowash often because her hair is so dry afterwards.
I encouraged her to condition her hair often because conditioning (amongst other things) will give her hair the moisture that it lacks.
I cowash on Saturday and Wednesdays now.

Re: How Often Do You Cowash?
I used to swear by cowashing. Did it 1-2x a week. Then my hair didn't look as full and as lively as I liked, so I stopped. I haven't cowashed in several months. I use Tresemme shampoo.

Whats that mean!??
Re: How Often Do You Cowash?
One thing I'm seriously confused about. In watching various youtube videos, I notice that a lot of the girls either don't rinse the conditioner out at all, or don't rinse it all. I figure we would all have silky hair if we did that!! But I'm imagining that at the very least, your hair turns out dull because of the residue, but wouldn't those products be harmful if left on the hair?? Do you all rinse completely when co-washing??

Re: How Often Do You Cowash?
Ahem I still cowash most days during the week even though it is cold outside. Is that bad? I have often got into work with a headache from the cold but I have now found a hat that I can wear to work and take it off without messing up my TWA. My hair is usually dry by lunchtime and then I wear the hat home again. When I'm off work and at weekends I tend to spritz with water and oils then seal with oil but I do love my coils when my hair is cowashed. I can't do many protective styles yet as she's not quite long enough - have had two mini chops since the big chop in June.

@NaturalShazzie - Nicole gave a great answer to the question about cowashing in the Winter.
bigGirlbigHair wrote:..... Cowashing during winter months is different for each person. If you cowash in the morning and then go out with still slighty damp hair in winter months, that can lead to possible breakage. That's why you see a lot of ladies doing protective styles and wearing hats/scarves. During the summer months going out with that freshly cowashed hair is fine because it'll dry in the warm natural heat as the day goes on. I have to stress that it's different for each person. If your hair likes it during the winter and you arent seeing any breakage or shed or suffering from an itchy scalp, I say keep doing what you're doing.
Re: How Often Do You Cowash?
@JenellyBean-KCCM and @lovinmykink Thanks very much ladies. I haven't seen much shedding or breakage so will keep doing what I'm doing except I've just got over a bout of flu which I'm sure my WnGs contributed to.:

So yeah i'm a cowashing fiend... about 4x a week w/ Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deeper Moisture Condt.
I can get away with this even more now with the purchase of my handy dany diffuser, and if I'm in a rush I just use the nozzel attachment. Put that baby on low and my curls are dry and springy in 3mins

I might try this diffuser method. I currently cowash like every other day, but let my hair dry natural since I'm a stay-at-home wife.
