my hair loves to shrink
I´m suffering from shrinkage...any siggestions when it comes to that?
it´s nice when you comb it out and under the shower you can see how long it has become since last time I put it away but after a while it all goes like puff and it´s shorter lol

We all deal with it. Have U tried Rope Twist? or Dry Twist Out? It will help.

Marlies, I suffer from shrinkage too. I usually wet twist my hair. I'll have to try a dry twist out. What are rope twists?

Re: my hair loves to shrink
yea I just let my hair shrink and watch it now haha it´s funny becuase when I pull it I see that my hair has grown since my bc so I don´t worry!I´m waiting till end of may to see how long it has become and then see if I can manage to do regular twists out cause my hair is kinda too tw that it takes too long and too much energy for me to twist it so I do it once in a while when I really feel that I HAVE TO do it Now ^^
right now they´re in twists-bantu-knots the 2nd day looking so funny cause they´re so small so I just moisterize my scalp stay in the house and study ^^
I love being natural! the funny thing is I think my mum and my older bro have more problems with my shrinkage than I do
thx for the advice ladies I´ll try the methods out when the hair is longer

You may get less shrinkage as it grows longer because it'll be heavier

Re: my hair loves to shrink
We all know that our hair shrinks...it's just what curls do.....I am trying to get over my shrinkage and embrace it as much as possible. I know that with length it will start to be a little more heavy but even with length you have to stay moisturized. You may try banding or stretching out your hair. Dry or 90% dry twists works best for me.
Also, when my hair has shrank I remoisturize and then retwist you can elongate your curl with moisture and oil.
Hope this works!

Re: my hair loves to shrink
Hey guys,
My problem is that my hair only looks good in front of the mirror. Once I step outside, it shrinks whatever style I had into a puff. My hair just absorbs moisture from the atmosphere. It's shoulder length when stretched. Any suggestions on how to stop this? 'Really desperate!

Hey Cynkie,
Mines is the same way and I don't have those popping curls like some other naturals. Sometimes I get a better hold with a little gel. If you don't like to use gel then you might wanna try some heavier styling cremes that will hold your style a little more. Hope this helps!!

Re: my hair loves to shrink
Hey OldsoulNita,
Thanks for the tip!
Eco Styler Gel has become a staple for me. I live within the tropics so it's humid down here, and styles never used to hold for very long. But now with gel... I love it. And I love the fact that it doesn't make my hair crunchy; it's still soft.
Yay gel!
