What Products are You Using?
First topic message reminder :
I never say that I'm a product junky because I feel better saying I like to try new things.
Here's a list of products I use. You will have to determine how your hair feels about these products and how often your hair likes to have them. Also you have to decide which ingredients work best for which styles.
SHAMPOO
(I shampoo 1-2x a month, no more)
•Giovanni Deeper Moisture Shampoo -- This is a staple product of mine. Read Product Review
•Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Shampoo -- This is new to my product list.
•YES to Carrots Pampering Shampoo -- This is new to my product list.
•Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo -- This product was used this during the first month of my journey and I haven't used it since. Hubby uses it to wash his locks.
CONDITIONER
(I usually condition 1x a week, but this week I really felt like playing in my hair so I cowshed 3x this week! When my hair was shorter I co-washed 1-2x a week.)
•Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Conditioner -- my new favorite!! It made my curls come out. Read MY Product Review
•Giovanni Deeper Moisture Conditioner -- u know I love this! I used this since month 2 of my journey.
•YES to Carrots Pampering Conditioner -- This is new to my product list. Read MY Product Review.
•Herbal Essences None of your Frizziness Conditioner -- I've used this about 4x. It's okie. Not wild about it. But it conditions.
•Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner -- I used this during the first month of my journey. It's great and smells heavenly, but since I started Giovanni I haven't used it.
DEEP CONDITIONER
(I always deep condition after I shampoo 1-2x a month.)
•Organics Root Stimulator Hair Mayonnaise -- my hair loves this stuff! I've heard bad reviews about this product from close friends, but for me I can't say anything bad about this product. As soon as I lay it on my head, my hair turns to butter. Lol. Read Product Review.
OILS
(I oil my hair after every co-wash (and wash because oil seals the moisture from the water into your hair. I add oil after a few days)
• Coconut Oil -- best oil for hair. I apply to hair after washes. At first I used a generic coconut oil but now I use Tropical Traditions coconut oil. It smells so tropical and the smell stays with you for a very long time.
• Extra Virgin Olive Oil
• Castor Oil -- great for hair growth and thickening. I used this on my edges during my first few months. Read Product Info.
**I have a mix of all my oils that I use often, but recently I mainly use my tropical traditions coconut oil on my hair.
MOISTURIZERS & BUTTERS
(I add to hair after oil to help with styling)
•Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie --This product is the bomb!! I use it after I oil my hair and while I'm setting my hair in twists and creating other styles. Read MY Product Review.
•Raw Shea Butter -- When I first went natural I used Shea butter for all the same reasons I use the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie. I've also created an oil mix using Shea butter.
•We Rock Roots Rock On Butter -- I use it after I oil my hair and while I'm setting my hair in twists and creating other styles.
GELS & POMADE
(I'm not a gel person because my hair doesn't respond well to them, so a hardly ever use gels but I do have some in my collection for when using them is necessary.)
•World of Curls Activator Gel -- This is not a hardening gel, it adds shine and moisture to sectioned styles (Twists, braids, Bantu knots, flattwists) without drying them out because of the glycerin. Read Product Review.
•EcoStyler Gel -- this gel hardens when it dries. I'm not sure why I use it, but from time to time I use it to lay down unruly hair in the back when I wear a puff. I see so many women who can use gel and it makes their curls pop! -Not I. This is why I bought gels to begin with.
•ic fantasia Gel
• Giovanni Wicked Wax Pomade -- pomades are like a dry form of a gel. They give strong hold without the dry hard feeling. I used this to set my Bantu knots once because I wanted them to last long ie. I didn't want them to frizz out after 1 day.
GLOSSERS
(They add shine to hair, sorta like how oil sheens shines hair)
• Organics Olive Oil Glosser & Polisher Sereum -- when I put my hair in a puff or when I use a headband I rub some of this on the front of my hair to add shine while it lays down. I also rub some gently on styled hair to add shine to the finished look.
STYLING ACCESSORIES
•Combs -- I have a variety of different sized combs. Larger tooth combs for detangling large sections. Smaller tooth combs to smooth products from root to tip on detangled hair. Rat tail combs to help make straight parts. A pick to comb out and stretch hair without having to put it in sections.
•Brushes -- Bristle brushes for smoothing. Denman brushes are for brushing/smoothing wet hair. Some women use them to define curls.
•Hair Clips -- Organics help hold down hair for sectioning. Duck bill clips help do the same but they don't have as much tension as butterfly clips.
• Hair Pins -- We all know what hair pins are for and how to use them (I hope LOL)

Re: What Products are You Using?
O.K. guys so I use lots of stuff and my decision process sucks! Whatever is near my hand when I sit at my makeup/hair table is what I use but I am going to try and list some of my products.
OILS
Grape seed Oil
Castor Oil
Almond Oil
Vegetable Glycerin
Jajoba Oil
Coconut Oil
SHAMPOOS
Hydratherma Naturals
Curls.Biz
Alberto Vo5
Giovani 50/50 and Moisture
CONDITIONERS
Oyin Honey Hemp
Giovani
Alberto Vo5
Hydratherma Naturals
Curls Coconut Sublime
Hairveda Moisturizing Conditioner
GELS
Miracurl curling gelly
Shida Naturals
Curl Junkie Queen Styling Gel
Ecco Styler Gel
AfroVeda Gel
Kinky Curly Custard
I guess you can get the idea I have lots of butters, creams, and curl quenchers and sadly to say I am still looking to purchase more I love them all. I have yet to reach the bottom of a jar except for conditioner and shampoo. Most if not all of my butters and cremes are not even half way through and I have been natural for 17 months. Lawd knows I need not purchase another thing but I know I will be purchasing more. Oh and the reason I probably have so much stuff is because I hardly ever only purchase one product from a line I like to purchase the entire line due to the fact I do not like to mix products on the first try in order to ascertain how they work.
